US & Brazil Citizens Interested the Most to Visit Portugal’s

The United States and Brazil have marked the most significant increase in air capacity to travel to Lisbon this year, according to the recent survey of Mariban.

The survey was focused on the growth of the main source markets that will travel the most to Lisbon this year, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

According to the survey, the United States authorities’ interest in tightening connectivity with Portugal has increased significantly, by a total of 30.41 per cent since last year as well as 31.78 per cent in comparison to pre-pandemic figures registered in 2019.

“The top three destinations that most increased their direct air connectivity with Lisbon are completed by Brazil and Spain, a neighboring country that has seen interest in Portugal increase by 33.79 per cent when compared to before the pandemic,” the report notes.

A notable increase in air capacity to Portugal’s capital has also been noted in the following countries: France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands as well as Germany.

As for Germany, the country still has not recovered the levels of connectivity regarding the pre-pandemic situation bus still it marked an increase in comparison to last year’s figures.

“The countries that, regardless of their growth in interest compared to previous years, will visit Lisbon the most are Spain, Portugal, and France in the top positions. These three countries have exchanged the order since compared to 2019 Portugal falls from first to second place, France from second to third place and Spain moves from third to first place in the ranking,” the statement reads.

Last month, it was reported that there was noted a high demand for flights between Portugal’s Azores as well as North America this year.

The President of SATA Group, Luis Rodriguez, stressed that renting an Airbus A330 plane that would connect the Azores as well as North America during the summer season would be the most profitable solution.

In addition, Rodriguez said that among their main purposes will be to connect Oakland while he stressed that the group is very satisfied with the demand, emphasizing that “it may complement Boston, mainly with Ponta Delgada and Terceira”.

Previously the National Institute of Statistics revealed that the number of passengers from other countries registered in Madeira and Azores in June last year surpassed pre-pandemic levels.

Authorities in Portugal are continuously attempting to help the country’s travel and tourism sector recover from the damages caused by the spread of the Coronavirus and its new strains.
