Nearly 1,300,000 Passengers Flew Through Finnish Airports in November This

Statistics Finland has revealed that around 1,290,625 passengers flew through Finnish airports last month.

According to the agency, compared to the same month in 2021, the number of passengers was 50 per cent higher. However, it is only 67 per cent of the number of passengers recorded in November 2019, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

Statistics also show that last month a total of 1.1 million passengers flew through Helsinki Airport, and another 228,394 flew through other domestic airports. This means that Helsinki Airport reported 82 per cent of all passengers at the country’s airports.

In addition, the number of passengers at Helsinki Airport was 34 per cent lower in November 2022 in comparison with the same period in 2019, while the combined number of passengers at other domestic airports also saw a decrease of 31 per cent.

Based on Statistics Finland, a total of 77 per cent of air passengers travelled on international flights, while 24 per cent on domestic flights. At Helsinki airport, 85 per cent of passengers travelled on flights and 31 per cent in total at other domestic airports.

As for the air transport of goods and mail, it reached 13,460 tons in November 2022.

Altogether, 99.6 per cent of tons were transported through Helsinki Airport and 99 per cent in traffic between Finland and foreign countries. A percentage of 57 per cent, or 7,613 tons of goods transported, was outgoing, and 5,846 tons or 43 per cent, was incoming.

Previously, data provided by Statistics Finland also revealed that 1,479,037 people flew through Finland’s airports during June, marking a total increase of 12 per cent in the number of passengers compared to May.

According to the report, the number of passengers at Helsinki Airport was lower, and the combined number of passengers at other airports was 40 per cent lower than in June 2019.

Moreover, 83 per cent of air traffic passengers were on international flights, and a total of 17 per cent were on domestic flights. At Helsinki airport, the percentage of passengers on international flights was 90 per cent, while a total of 26 per cent was at other domestic airports.

In June of this year, air cargo transport, as well as postal transport, reached 12,265 tons, which was six per cent less than in 2021.
