Income From Tourism Reached CZK 118 Billion Last Year in

In 2022, Czech Republic’s tourism income were almost CZK 51.2 billion higher than a year earlier.

Data provided by VisitCzech Republic, the official website of the Czech National Tourist Board, also revealed that the revenue,  in total, was about CZK 118 billion, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

The same source shows that the country has now exceeded the figure of CZK 100 billion, even though it has not yet reached pre-pandemic levels. According to these data, the balance of tourism was also positive, namely two billion crowns.

The Czech Republic’s income from tourism in 2021 was CZK 66.8 billion, compared to CZK 83 billion the year before, in 2020, while in 2019, revenues were CZK 167 billion.

Ukrainians Contributed Most to Czechia’s Tourism in 2022

In this regard, the head of the Tourism Institute of the Czech Tourism Headquarters – CzechTourism revealed that Ukraine contributed the most to the Czech Republic’s income from tourism in 2022, with almost CZK 42 billion.

He also noted that Ukraine was followed by Germany with CZK 17.7 billion and Poland with CZK 12.3 billion. At the same time, Slovakia also contributed CZK 12.3 billion and the United States of America with nearly three billion crowns.

Almost 20 Million Tourists in Czechia in 2022, 71% More Than in 2021

Previously, data provided by the Czech National Tourism Board showed that a total of 19.5 million tourists visited the Czech Republic in 2022, thus representing an increase of 71 per cent compared to 2021.

Such data also revealed that although the country saw positive growth, the number of tourists remained 12 per cent lower than before the pandemic.

According to the same authority, in comparison with 2019, the Czech Republic welcomed nine per cent more domestic tourists last year.

In addition, from the total number of tourists coming to the Republic, 12.1 or 62.2 per cent of Czechs were female tourists, while 7.3 million or 37.8 per cent of them were foreign visitors. At the same time, the largest number of tourists were Germans, Slovaks and Poles.

In October 2022 alone, the Czech Republic recorded 23 per cent more visitors compared to the same month in 2021. As a result, the country recorded a total of 1.3 million visitors during this period, of which 51 per cent, or 672,000, came from out. However, compared to October 2019, there were eight per cent fewer hotel guests.

In October last year, the largest group of tourists who visited Czechia came from Germany, with about 192,000 visitors. Meanwhile, compared to 2019, this figure was five per cent higher in 2022.
